Ladies Association Rules

CUMBRIA COUNTY LADIES CROWN GREEN BOWLING ASSOCIATION Founded 1987

  1. Introduction -The Cumbria County Ladies Crown Green bowling Association (hereinafter referred to as “the association”) shall consist of the Leagues and Clubs affiliated to Cumbria which play bowls under the rules of the British Crown Green Bowling Association (hereinafter referred to as BCGBA).All the aforesaid Leagues and Clubs must affiliate separately and directly to the Association. The Association shall be affiliated to the British Ladies Crown Green Bowling Association which in turn is affiliated to the BCGBA
  2. Registration All Clubs must ensure that their members shall be registered in accordance with the registration requirements in force in any particular year. Any Club which fails to do so shall be ineligible to participate in League Matches and members of such clubs shall be ineligible to participate in Inter-County Matches, County Competitions or competitions organised by clubs whose members are properly registered.
  3. Officers and other appointments -The Officers of the Association shall consist of a Chairlady, Vice Chairlady, Secretary and Treasurer. Representatives from Ulverston/Barrow – four. Rothay League/Lakes – two, Kendal & District – two. The representatives to be elected at the AGM.  The Management Committee to have the power to co-opt individuals as and when required.
  4. The Business of the Association-The business of the Association shall be conducted by a Management Committee which shall meet as required and comprise, the officers of the association, the representatives, and other co-opted members. All shall have voting rights. Seven members of the Management Committee shall form a quorum.  The Treasurer will prepare annually a balance sheet and the accounts for the Association shall be audited for presentation at the AGM.
  5. Meetings –  An AGM shall be held every year at a time and place determined by the Management Committee. Each member of the Management Committee plus two delegates from each affiliated club shall be entitled to attend an AGM and have the right to vote. Proposals for the AGM to be with the Secretary no later than 1st September.  The Secretary of the Association shall give no less than 14 days’ notice of an AGM to the members of the Management Committee, League Secretaries and Club Secretaries and enclose an agenda.
  6.  Special general Meeting A Special General Meeting shall be convened by the Secretary at any time on receipt of a request for such a meeting signed by at least two Clubs affiliated to the Association.
  7. Emergency Committee Meeting – An Emergency Committee Meeting may be convened by the Secretary on the authority of the Chairlady or Vice Chairlady to deal with any matters requiring early attention. The secretary, treasurer together with any other members of the Management Committee it is felt appropriate to invite. The decisions made at any Emergency Meeting shall be reported to the Management Committee at the first available meeting.
  8. County Competition Qualifiers – County Competition qualifiers for the finals of competitions arranged by the British Crown Green Bowling Association will be expected to attend the relevant finals and adhere to the regulations laid down by the Association as regard dress etc. The Management Committee will arrange the heats on an area rotation basis. County colours to be worn or white polo shirt and tailored black trousers/skirt.
  9. Selection of County Team – Selection of County teams will be made by a sub-committee consisting of the Secretary and four area representatives. Teams will be chosen from Clubs who are affiliated to the Association. The County colours are royal blue shirts, light grey sweatshirts or jumpers, black skirts or trousers.
  10.  These Rules – None of these rules may be altered or rescinded without the consent of the Management Committee.
